Recently, I have been considering a possible run for office. I sent an e-mail requesting information on this process, which I have deemed very helpful.
Below is a copy of that email if you yourself might like to run for office.
The next City Council election will be held in May 2005. At that time,there will be 3 council positions up for election. The positions are Places1, 3 and 4. You may run for any one of those positions. The City Clerk'sOffice will have a candidate's packet available for people who want to runfor office. The information will also be on our website. These packetsshould be available in December. If you go to our website right now, youcan still view the candidates packet from the May 2003 election. Some ofthis information will change, such as the number of signatures required onthe petition and we will make sure we have the most current filing formsprescribed by the State.If you wish to run for a school board position, you will need to contact Dr.Zoe Griffith at 414-4142. She handles elections for the Austin IndependentSchool District.Here is the election website:
