Former Lt. Gov. Ben Barnes Admits He Got Bush Into The National Guard
Below is a press release from Austin For Kerry. This was sent out to all Austin area Activists, and has some useful information that needs to be passed on. Please click on the "explosive video" link to view Lt. Gov. Ben Barnes admitting he got George W. Bush into the National Guard.
Dear fellow Texas Activist,
In the past week, because of an
explosive video featured on our website of former Lieutenant Governor Ben Barnes admitting he got George W. Bush into the National Guard, the A4K website has been inundated with visitors from all over Texas and the country. We are using this unprecedented attention to continue to raise support for Kerry/Edwards and all Democratic candidates throughout Travis County. Our grassroots efforts have gained national attention, and the gathering storm of local Democratic support has turned into a Texas tornado.
Along with the Travis County Democratic Party,
Austin For Change, and other grassroots organizations, Austin For Kerry has registered thousands of new voters, raised thousands of dollars, and raised priceless awareness for Democrats in Central Texas. Last weekend at the South Austin Celebration on South Congress we registered over 300 voters, many for the first time, and brought in over 1,000 dollars in a single day. We heard some great music, had some great food, and covered South Congress with Kerry/Edwards signs. The next few weeks heading into October are filled with opportunities to volunteer. October 4th is the deadline to register to vote, so it’s vitally important we continue to get as many Texas voters registered as possible. Forget the polls, the real race is the race to register!
Our phone banks are now up and running. We are making calls to voters here in Travis County as well as to swing states across the country. If you have a passion to persuade, you now have a chance to reach thousands of persuadable voters. Also, if you would like to reach people in your Neighborhood, contact us, or stop by the office and pick up a walk list and a map of your precinct and get out and block walk your neighborhood. We need as many people as possible to walk just a few streets in their neighborhood. All politics is local, so change some minds in your community.
Please check the calendar below for an event you have time to attend and come out and join the fun. You will be among friends. If you have not been contacted yet and you wish to volunteer in any way, please contact Todd Phelan at 512.443.2021 or by email at
todd@austinforkerry.org. Without even leaving the house, there are all kinds of ways you can help.
Sincerely, The Austin for Kerry Coordinators Todd Phelan, Ryan McCormick, Nathan Hutson & Mike Nicholson
