Atn: John Hogan President / CEO Dear Mr. Hogan,
We the undersigned, want to manifest our outrage and dissatisfaction with the suspension of the Howard Stern Show from Clear Channel Stations. Your statement "Clear Channel drew a line in the sand today with regard to protecting our listeners from indecent content, and Howard Stern's show blew right through it" fails to acknowledge two basic facts” (i) We are not your or Clear Channel listeners we at best, are Howard Stern’s listeners (although we would like to think we are our own people) and (ii) We can protect ourselves. All we have to do is change the station. Most of us have fingers for that. Clear Channel fails to acknowledge that Howard Stern listeners in Pittsburgh, San Diego, Miami, Orlando, Louisville and Rochester may be discerning adults with the mental capacity to change the station if we feel disturbed or offended by the contents being aired. We recognize the fact that Clear Channel has the right to decide what contents its stations will and will not broadcast, but when you as CEO issue an explanation (that we rightfully deserve) using such a lame excuse to defend your decision, you not only undermine all respectability and credibility that such decisions may have had but also and more importantly, you undermine the freedom of speech protected by the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America. Please put the Howard Stern Show back on the air. Please trust that we will know when and how to protect ourselves from offensive content; we have been doing it for a long time now.
Sincerely,
The UndersignedPLEASE FEEL FREE TO COPY AND PASTE AND SEND TO CLEAR CHANNEL!
