Join DFT Austin's National Day of Action, May 14
On Saturday, May 14, Austin-area Democracy for Texas supporters will join Democracy for America folks across the country who will be taking part in community service activities in a National Day of Action. Our Meetup this week brainstormed to plan an activity for our group and, as usual when the grassroots collaborate, came up with a great idea!Lyons Garden provides homes for seniors who have a very low income, and who have the ability to live independently or with the assistance of support services. We will do light gardening and voter registration, then have a barbeque and potluck lunch. If you don't want to garden, you can help with voter registration, setting up lunch, or just visiting with the residents.Barbeque is generously being provided by Stubb's. Please bring a side dish or dessert. When: Saturday, May 14th, from 10:00am to 1:00pmWhere: Lyons Garden at 2720 Lyons Road (click for map) What to Bring: A side dish or dessert, hat, sunscreen, gardening gloves, voter registration forms. And wear your DFT button! Please email event coordinator, Patty Olwell at polwell@kut.org to confirm that you will be attending so we'll have enough barbeque. Also, please specify what you will bring for the potluck. We need a count by Wednesday, May 11th to give Stubb's a final count. This is what you can do for your community this week!Your DFT Steering committee—Marla Camp, Glen Maxey, Teri Sperry, and Fran Vincent
