Known locally in Austin, Texas to appear at rallies and anti-war demonstrations, Angell is self described as "The most famous gay activist in Austin that everybody knows OF but nobody KNOWS".

    What's More Important?
    On April 28, the Texas House of Representatives had the opportunity to debate House Bill 1348, which had bipartisan support. It would have started the process of taking control of the electoral process in this state away from big corporate interests and returning it to the people, where it belongs.
    Members of the House, both Democrat and Republican, seeing that the Republican-controlled Elections Committee had no intention of giving this bill a timely hearing, were attempting to dislodge the bill from committee and bring it directly to the floor for debate, a permissible parliamentary move under House rules. Unfortunately, state Rep. Terry Keel, R-Austin, was the chief executioner of this bipartisan effort through a showy display of supposedly protecting the "legislative process."
    Keel's passion for the legislative process is not very impressive when you consider that in the second special session of the 2003 Legislature, Keel voted for a motion by Republicans to bring their congressional redistricting plan directly to the floor for a vote, bypassing the committee hearing process. Apparently, Keel believes that rigging congressional districts to ensure that more Republicans are elected is worthy of suspending the integrity of the legislative process, but meaningful campaign finance reform is not.
